Common Sense Media

Founded in 2003 by Jim Steyer Common Sense Media was formed. The website was based on a book Jim wrote called "The Other Parent". The website's primary focus was on rating various types of media like movies, TV show, books, games, music and even websites so that parents could make much more informed decisions about the media their kids should see. The old G PG ratings were just not enough. Common Sense Media took another step further with a more robust rating system and reviews that pointed out what parents need to be concerned about. Since then they have expanded into education and a whole host of other informative platforms.
